ABOUT ME

When I was a little boy, one of my favorite things to do was to read stories. I would then take them and transform them into imaginative moments. As I got older, these imaginative moments focused more on the emotional themes rather than just what was written on the page. Doing this allowed me to create my own abstracted pieces where the takeaway was more emotional rather than literal. This ideology became the central theme of my work as an artist, designer, and author.

Carlos Vargas is an artist, author, and game designer with a love for storytelling in all forms. Since kicking off his creative journey in 2018 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, he's written plays, authored children's books, designed board games, and even brought creative worlds to life through video projection art at festivals across the country. Carlos is also the founder of Once Upon a Game, a boutique publishing house for board games and books for all ages, and is the head caretaker at Tiny Blot Studios. He lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains with his husband and their three cats —Rose, Dorothy, and Billy.
