THE TWINS COLLECTION

ARTIST STATEMENT - the hunt is on for the missing half—think you’ve got what it takes?

The TWINS collection is a body of mixed media work rooted in my experience as a twin I’ve always been drawn to the ways connection forms, fades, or reshapes itself over time, especially between people who began life in the same womb. This collection explores that.

Each piece in the series has a counterpart. Two halves made in tandem, then separated—intentionally sold apart. The idea is simple: once out in the world, these works invite their new keepers to find one another. Whether they ever do is beside the point. It’s about the tension between shared origin and individual journey, about how proximity doesn’t guarantee sameness, and how distance doesn’t always mean disconnection.

Some of the twins in this collection are mirror-like. Others are oppositional. But all of them speak to the strangeness of being bound to someone by blood, history, or moment—and still becoming entirely your own. This project leans into the soft chaos of that duality: how two things can start together and still become wildly different stories.

Connection, in this case, isn’t just a theme. It’s an action. A chance. A question left hanging in the space between two separated works.
